Exeter Science Park has launched a series of webinars to inform and inspire the region’s business community as we move into the next phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In partnership with Devon Community Foundation, Heart of the South West Digital Skills Partnership, SETsquared Exeter and Tech South West the sessions will run online every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The ‘Path to the New Normal’ series will commence with on Monday, June 1st 2020 with a presentation from Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park, setting out the company’s plan for the Park over the coming months.

Subsequent sessions will cover topics from finance to health and safety, business support services to wellbeing, in bitesize ‘brown-bag lunch’ style sessions.

Dr Basker explained: “Over recent weeks, the Exeter Science Park team has been working hard to plan how we can deliver a safe and comfortable working environment that is responsive to risk, adheres to Government guidelines and recommendations, and reflects local conditions. We’ve identified and assessed potential risks and looked at how to change business operations during the restart, recovery and ‘new normal’ phases of recovery.

“Planning a safe return to work is challenge almost every business will now face, not least our tenants, so we wanted to start a conversation around this. The changes all businesses are making at the moment will have a significant impact on their future, so making considered and careful decisions is vital. For Exeter Science Park, there is going to be greater emphasis on quality and dependability, less on speed and flexibility.

“Nobody has all the answers, so sharing best practice and bringing together a range of speakers on topics that all businesses can relate to should help the region’s organisations and entrepreneurs to survive and grow from this crisis.”

Dr Basker added: “We want to help businesses find a way forward that works for them and discuss practical next steps for the coming weeks, months and perhaps even year.”

As well as inviting speakers from its own network, Exeter Science Park has partnered with charitable organisation, Devon Community Foundation; the Digital Skills Partnership run by Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership; business incubator, SETsquared Exeter; and Tech South West.

The sessions are free to attend and will run from 12:30 to 1pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 11am-12pm on Fridays throughout June and July, with different partner organisations chairing different days.
